![]() ![]() ![]() Out of all three girls, Emma grew up in a more stable environment as her father is a business man in sales and financial development. Unfortunately, due to protecting her mermaid secret, she had to quit the team. In her childhood and early years before her transformation, Emma was determined to train to become a skilled and famous swimmer someday, a dream she is forced to abandon after she was turned into a mermaid.Įmma dedicated most of her free time training and competing for her swim team, and had won countless trophies for it. Later, Emma's parents had another child, a son named Elliot, whom Emma shared a strong bond with. After years of friendship, she wasn’t aware that Cleo’s birthday parties had remained the same childish party, courtesy of Cleo's father, Donald Sertori. ![]() Because of her yearly intense training for her competitive swimming team, Emma had only attended Cleo’s first few childhood birthday parties, last being her sixth. Sometime during her childhood, Emma met Cleo Sertori and the two of them became close friends ever since to the point where Emma is aware of Cleo's bad singing. Because their parents are still close friends, however, the two of them continued to be friendly towards the other on some occasions. Despite their childhood companionship, Emma and Zane grew weary of each other as they grew older. When she was three years-old, she met Zane Bennett. When she was only six-months-old, she had been introduced into the world of swimming by her father. But i will agree that all the new characters were flat, there should’ve been more scenes of the girls coming to trust Bella and her actually developing a real relationship with Will, and more scenes where we got to learn about Will.Emma Gilbert was born to Neil and Lisa Gilbert in either 1989 or 1990. I honestly think her motive was just that’s how she always had been, she didn’t need a motive like Charlotte, she had been nasty from before the season even started. I think with Zane she was just once again that way when the show started, she found him intriguing and went to go be with him, double points for him being close to the girls as well because then she could inadvertently hurt Bella. She was probably used to scaring off potential girlfriends of Will so that he would be able to focus on freediving, but Bella was more persistent and she found that harder to deal with. I feel like Sophie’s motives was just being a bitch, like she had been that way before the show even started. And her possession over Lewis's life leads to her downfall. I'm not justifying Charlotte's actions but she becomes attached to Lewis (in a really unhealthy way) after actually spending time and getting to know him. But what exactly was her problem with Bella? She even tries to tell Will to go to the beach party with Rikki, but it's also because she didn't approve of Bella. She also kept manipulating him about the supposed "relationship" between Rikki and Will which she knew is never going to happen because Will liked Bella. Sure, you can argue that Rikki and Zane had their own problems and Zane became terrible in season 3, but Sophie planned this from the very beginning. What made her even more insufferable was the fact that Rikki and Zane ended up breaking up because of her behaviour. She was honestly such a one-dimensional villain with no depth to her. She only saw him from a distance and suddenly thought that was enough for her to ruin his relationship with Rikki. We also see she had her eyes on Zane and is set on getting the job at Rikki's just to get close to him. But what actually was Sophie's deal?įrom the very beginning, she is so unnecessarily rude to Bella for no reason at all. And let's be honest, the girls were not very nice to Charlotte in the beginning. She was insecure about his friendship with the girls and wanted the same amount of attention. With Charlotte, we actually see her be sweet initially and then start to become possessive over Lewis gradually. I thought Sophie was a very underdeveloped character which made it hard for me to understand her motives. ![]()
